How can a non-resident of Venezuela buy real estate?
Foreigners can buy real estate in Venezuela at their own name or their company name. The only thing you need is a valid passport (valid for at least 6 months) and a Venezuelan tax-number (which we can provide).

Can the Venezuelan real estate register office be trusted or should I expect non pleasant surprises?
The Venezuelan real estate register office is very trustful and actualized, that’s why you don’t have to be afraid for unpleasant surprises.

What are the extra costs when I decide to buy a property?
The extra costs vary between 4% and 6%, included lawyer fees, notary costs, registry costs, realtor fees and taxes.

Do I have any obligation to pay taxes owning a property in Venezuela?
Yes, you have to pay a yearly real estate tax. This would be around 1% of the value of your property.

Do I have any obligation to pay taxes when I decide to sell my property?
No, only when you own more than one property. On your main property you will not have to pay any taxes by selling. If it’s not your main residence, calculate around a 20% of tax that you should pay by selling.

Is it possible for me like a foreigner to get any mortgage or loan for buying a property in Venezuela?
No, this is not possible. Loans are only for Venezuelan residents.

Is it possible for a foreigner to buy a piece of land and build a house on it?
Yes, the same conditions of buying real estate apply.

How is the health care situation on the island?
On the island we have plenty of private hospitals where you will find perfect services.

Can you get a health care insurance in Venezuela?
Yes, at this moment big insurance companies offer different packages to insure yourself. You can also ask in you country of residence if there are any companies insuring persons who live outside their country.

How is the education system on the island? Are there any international schools?
We have on the island a couple of international schools where they speak and teach in English and Spanish. The level is to be compared of what you are used to.

How long can I stay in Venezuela?
For a visit less than 3 months there's no visa required. In the plane you receive a form which you have to fill in and give to the immigration officer. You have to keep the green copy, this is the "visa" for a stay for maxium three months.
If you want to stay longer then 3 months you need a visa which you can obtain at the Venezuelan embassy. There are several types of visa's such as investment visa, layabout visa, etc. To obtain a investment visa at the embassy you need to show your Venezuelan business documents. With this documents you can get your investment visa for a definite periode (most times for 1 year). After this periode you can extend your visa in Venezuela

Can I start a business as foreigner in Venezuela?
Yes, you can start business as foreigner the only requirements are a passport (valid for at least 6 months) and a Venezuelan tax-number (which we can provide). Besides this one of the shareholders (minimum share of 1%) needs to have the Venezuelan nationality.

How about the tax rates in Venezuela?
